Your adventure begins with a picturesque one-hour drive from sea level into the cooler mountain air of the Sierra Nevada. The road winds through lush landscapes, setting the stage for a memorable mountain escape.

Ascent to Hacienda Victoria

In the village of Minca, transfer from the van to a 4x4 vehicle for the final 30-minute ascent up steep mountain roads to Hacienda Victoria, a historic coffee plantation founded in 1892 and now owned by a German family. The plantation is considered a “coffee museum,” showcasing heritage machinery originally built in England and transported across the Atlantic, then hauled up the mountain by mule train.

Coffee Tour & Tasting

Join a guided walk through the fields with a farm worker explaining the cultivation and hand-picking process of their organic coffee beans. Experience the rich aroma firsthand, and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee paired with cake. Participate in a tree-planting activity to leave a living legacy of your visit.

Mountain & Birdwatching

After returning to Minca via 4x4, take a short walk through this natural mountain retreat, popular with upscale Santa Martans seeking respite from the summer heat and birdwatchers from around the world. The area is renowned for its rich avian diversity.

Lunch & Return

Conclude your day with a hearty Colombian lunch of Sancocho stew and sugar cane juice with lemon at a local restaurant overlooking the mountains. After lunch, enjoy a scenic drive back down to sea level and your ship, approximately one hour away.

Please note: This adventurous excursion involves about 1.2 km / 0.75 mi of walking over uneven terrain, with cobblestones, steps, and some inclines. Guests should be in good physical health and able to walk at a medium pace under these conditions. The tour is not suitable for those who utilise a wheelchair or have limited mobility. Weather is variable in the mountains, with cooler temperatures and chances of showers; dress in comfortable layers, wear sturdy walking shoes, and bring sun protection and raingear. Guests receive a gift bag of coffee from the hacienda. The order of sights and activities may vary.
