Serengeti National Park - rich in wildlife and famous for annual wildebeest migration traditionally between December and July with its variety of wildlife, including cheetah, bearded wildebeest, Bat Eared fox, Maasai giraffe, lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Every year, triggered by the rains, 1.3 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle gather to undertake the long trek to new grazing lands. The migration of the herbivores roughly defines the boundaries of Serengeti National Park, which is the central zone of the Serengeti ecosystem, an area that also takes in Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Maswa Game Reserve in the west. Considered to be one of the vastest ecosystems in Africa, it also the land of the Maasaï. An encounter with a people, a culture, a land, you will set off on a discovery of the "Endless Plains" and feel the pulse of nature.

This Land Adventure is a small group luxury tour, providing bespoke cultural and sightseeing experiences. We limit the tour to a small group in order to ensure your experience is a high-quality one. Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. If the program fills up, you'll be accommodated on a space-available basis. Advanced booking is required at least 90 days prior to sailing date via Silversea Reservations. We suggest booking early to secure your spot(s).

Please be advised that a minimum number of participants is required for this program to run as described. In rare cases when the minimum number of participants is not met, Silversea reserves the right to offer the program at an increased rate based on private arrangements or to cancel your specific departure for a refund. The self-cancellation fee, unless otherwise advised, is 90 days or sooner to initial sailing date at the rate of 100% program fare per person. The payment for your Land Adventure is due in full on the same date as your final payment due for your cruise. Per Silversea's general payment terms, bookings made within 120 days of sailing require full payment within seven days of booking or sooner.

All Land Adventures are non-transferable and non-refundable within 120 days of sailing, with the exception of cancellation by Silversea. Our family-friendly land programs require adult accompaniment of any guests under the age of 18. All Land Adventures are owned by independent contractors, and Silversea makes no representations and assumes no responsibility for the services provided by these operators. Silversea and our local operators make every effort to ensure your land program runs as described. Our local operators reserve the right to modify tour sequence, sites visited and venues mentioned due to operational reasons.

VISA INFORMATION:

Please check with your travel professional for details regarding visa requirements for Tanzania (Entry Visa -applied online- Fees currently US$100 per person for Tanzania). It is the responsibility of each guest to obtain all appropriate visas before cruising. Please make sure your passport is valid for 6 months.

VACCINATION:

Please check with your doctor for details regarding vaccination requirements for Tanzania. Yellow fever certificate is mandatory for travel to Tanzania. It is also recommended to take malaria precautions as East Africa is a high risk malaria area.

LOCAL CURRENCY:

The local currency is the Tanzanian Shilling however USD and EUR are also accepted; local ATMs are available in some locations visited. (There is no shopping stop planned during the program.)

DAY ONE - Wednesday, March 9th, 2022 - Zanzibar / Serengeti National Park

From the port of Zanzibar, you will be transferred to the airport and onto your connecting charter flight to Seronera airstrip/Serengeti.

Arrive in the Serengeti and enjoy a game drive guided by your professional safari guide en route to Four Seasons for check in. The Serengeti is not only famous for the great wildebeest Migration that moves around the park from October - July every year but also for the vast number of species that reside in the park year-round. The concentration of predators in the Serengeti is high with large prides of lion, numerous hyena clans, and regular sightings of both cheetah and Leopard. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe, and antelope can be found feeding on the rich plains as well as some of the lesser known species such as aardwolf, ongoose, caracal, servals and hyrax.

Your bush lunch will be perfectly set on beautiful savannah grassland of the Serengeti and it will provide natural ambience and exiting unique experience. Enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch in the middle of nowhere and a special Masai dance performance.

The very large, luxury Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is located in the center of the Serengeti National Park, backing onto an extensive low kopje, and with a waterhole adjacent to the lodge. Four seasons Serengeti comes equipped with a range of first-class facilities, including a spa with six free-standing treatments pavilions and an infinity edge swimming pool. Watch as a herd of elephants, baboons, impalas and many other local wildlife stop for a drink at our central watering hole, as you lounge on your room's private balcony or gaze out the window from your deep soaking tub.

DAY TWO - Thursday, March 10th, 2022 - Serengeti National Park

This morning you have the opportunity to go hot air ballooning - an unforgettable experience! (Optional - and at an additional cost - bookable with your Silversea Reservation Agent or with the on board Shore Concierge Team)

For the adventure of a lifetime we can offer the group the unique experience of a Balloon Safari, depart early in the morning to the launch site for the hot air balloons - you must depart early to enjoy the calm morning sky. Your balloon pilot will guide the balloon low over the plains, providing you with the chance to see the different wildlife at their early morning activities: hippos returning to the water after wandering for food in the dark, elephants coming out for their morning feeding, lions returning from the hunt. If there is a special activity going on, the pilot will bring the balloon down close to the treetops for a better view. Skimming over the treetops, you will have a chance to see the game in action and up close. The flight lasts about an hour with ample opportunity for photography. After landing, there is a traditional champagne toast, followed by breakfast cooked on the balloon burners in the heart of the savannah. This is actually 3 activities in one and for most clients the only chance of a "night game drive" in fact on the transfer to the launching site just before sunrise typically nocturnal wildlife can be spotted. Then the bush breakfast completes the experience (normally we do not mention the breakfast to the clients to keep it a surprise).

You will spend your day exploring the extensive plains of the Serengeti in search of the 'Big 5'. If you would like to maximize your time game viewing you can take a picnic lunch out into the park and enjoy a meal out in the vast savannah before returning to your lodge later in the day. After returning from safari, you can still enjoy the magic of seeing wildlife up-close when simply relaxing by the pool. From here you can take in the dramatic views over the open savannah and bush, keeping an eye on the waterhole below as animals come down to drink throughout the day. You can also relax in the beautiful Four Seasons Serengeti's luxury spa, with six individual spa treatment rooms overlooking the Serengeti Plains.

DAY THREE - Friday, March 11th, 2022 - Serengeti National Park / Zanzibar

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then checking out. Departure from your hotel for morning game drive, later return back for early lunch thereafter transfer to Seronera Airstrip for your charter flight back to Zanzibar. Upon arrival you will be transferred directly to the port to rejoin the cruise.

Please note: The contents and activities of this programme are subject to change due to flight schedules and at the discretion of the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti management without prior notice. This Mid-Voyage Land Adventure involves an extensive amount of off-road driving and an extensive amount of walking, at times over uneven, bumpy, slippery, cobblestone, and natural surfaces, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and open-air, 4WD safari vehicles. This tour is recommended for active guests in good physical condition. This tour is not suitable for pregnant guests, guests with neck and/or back problems, guests with limited mobility, and guests who utilise a wheelchair. As during the day it can be very hot, guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with long-and-short-sleeved shirts and flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and insect repellent. A light jacket is also recommended for early-morning game-drives. Guests must be at least 16 years old to participate on this tour; minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years old. Guests must carry their passports and ship's ID at all times. Guests must be at least 18 years old to be served alcoholic beverages. Guests are not permitted to use cellular phones during the game drives. Guests are not permitted to speak loudly, or stand up on the game drive vehicles, as this disturbs the animals. Smoking is not permitted during the game drives. This is a malaria-risk area; please make sure the necessary medication has been taken. Guests must carry their passports. The open-air, 4WD safari vehicles utilised on this tour are not covered, and guests are therefore exposed to the elements. Although frequently encountered on this type of tour, animal sightings are not guaranteed. Due to the prevailing weather conditions and movement of dangerous wildlife on the Game Reserve, the tour sequence, timings, and itinerary are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice. A signed waiver is required to participate on this tour. Space on this tour is extremely limited but a minimum number of participants is required to operate; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

One soft sided bag of 15kg is allowed.

A negative PCR test 72 hours valid is required to enter the National Park. The test will be arranged in Maputo.

An antigen test will be performed upon your arrival on board the ship.
