Experience the Maine Lobster industry from trap to plate on this informative outing aboard a lobster vessel.

Meet your guide on the pier and walk for approximately five minutes to your awaiting lobster boat. Once aboard, the captain offers insight into the lobster fishing history and industry as you ply Frenchman's bay en route to his traps. See first-hand how lobster traps are hauled, set and baited. During the voyage learn how these succulent creatures get from the bottom of the ocean to the dinner plate.

Listen as the crew discuss these crustaceans' habits, the conservation efforts of the lobster industry, and understand the difference between hard shells, shedders, shorts, culls, and keepers. Along the way, you may have a chance to see the antics of the seal colonies as you quietly cruise past the rock ledges where they rest and catch a glimpse of the picturesque Egg Rock Lighthouse, while the Captain points out the sites and shares local history.

After about two hours aboard the lobster vessel, come alongside the pier, disembark and return to the pier or head into town on your own to explore, having learned about lobstering in the state of Maine.

Please note: This tour requires a minimal amount of walking, however guests must be agile enough to climb in and out of the lobster boat. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility but it is not wheelchair accessible. Guests who suffer from seasickness may wish to take precautions prior to the tour's commencement. Guests are advised to dress in layers and bring sun protection, as well as a sweater/jacket to wear on the boat as it will be cooler on the water. Operation of this tour is subject to favourable weather and sea conditions and the cruising portion on the lobster boat may be cancelled on short notice. Guests must be at least 6 years old to participate on this tour. As space is very limited, we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
