Devon Countryside Drive

Depart the pier for a panoramic overview of Dartmoor. Pass through the fertile Devon countryside, and by rolling farmland and wooded hillsides. See trees, hedgerows and flora at the entrance to small farming and agricultural communities, which are home to clusters of centuries-old houses and buildings. Devon's most famous export, clotted cream, is one of the delicious products of the rich pastures that stretch in broad sweeps throughout the area.


Dartmoor National Park

Continue on to Dartmoor National Park. Steeped in legend and myth, your guide will recount of some of the age-old stories of this vast wilderness. Pass the Victorian prison at Princetown as you head into the heart of Dartmoor. Pause for photographs at scenic points along the way.


Free Time in Buckfast Abbey

Next, re-board your coach for the journey to Buckfast Abbey, originally founded in Saxon times. Here, some free time is made available to browse the well-stocked gift shop, stroll around the complex, take in excellent views of the Abbey, or just relax and take in the serenity of Buckfast. At the conclusion of your visit, re-board your coach and commence the approximately one-hour drive back to the pier.



Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, at times over uneven surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. Walking at Buckfast Abbey is at the discretion of each guest. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Warm, layered clothing, a waterproof jacket or coat, sturdy, closed-toe hiking shoes, an umbrella, and sun protection are recommended. Due to the local climate most of the coaches are air-cooled.
