Excursion Anadyr tour at Anadyr

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover the highlights of Anadyr, the capital of Chukotka and home to approximately 13,000 people. Like many northern towns that have short summers and very long winters, Anadyr is painted in all colors of the rainbow to lift the spirits of its inhabitants in winter.

At the port, enjoy a greeting ceremony by locals in national Chukotka and Russian costume, with a sampling of local flavors. Walk to the Mandrikovo abandoned village for a guided history tour, then to the scenic Verblyuzkha viewing point for a beautiful view of Anadyr.

Walk through Anadyr and stop at the St. Nicholas monument, visit one of the biggest Orthodox Cathedrals in the Russian Far East, and admire fantastic exhibits of the Chukotka Heritage Museum.

The Chukotka Museum in Anadyr holds an impressive collection of artefacts that include the most exquisite carvings of walrus ivory, baleen, mammoth tusk and stone.

Learn about Chukchi culture and traditions with a traditional dance performance and food tasting, with the chance to purchase souvenirs and visit a Chukchi yaranga.
