Excursion Wheelchair accessible: the panama canal: present & future tour at Colon

Considered the 8th wonder of the world, the Panama Canal consists of a series of locks. The focus of this tour is designed to showcase the Miraflores Locks on the Pacific and to get an up-close look at how the canal has been expanded just now. After boarding your transportation you’ll make your way to the Miraflores Locks Visitors Center. In here take the opportunity to pause and view the gargantuan ships that make their way through the Panama Canal and visit the terrace with information about the Canal’s operation. Next, you will head to the nearby IMAX Theater to enjoy an informational rich canal documentary narrated by Morgan Freeman. Through the magic of 3D and IMAX cameras, audiences everywhere can take an incredible trip through one of the seven wonders of the modern world in PANAMA CANAL 3D - A LAND DIVIDED - A WORLD UNITED. The documentary takes you through the locks and mechanical operations of the canal. The film sweeps you from the days when Conquistadores struggled through a water-soaked quagmire, to the American engineering achievement that revolutionized shipping and tropical medicine. After observing this amazing feat, you’ll travel to the New Panama Canal Locks (Agua Clara Visitor Center) where you’ll see the addition of a new traffic lane. This new lane created two new sets of locks, one on the Pacific and one on the Atlantic, which doubles the canal’s capacity and allows longer and wider vessels to transit. At the end of your tour, you’ll return to port

NOTE: this is the same regular tour COL-C Panama Canal Expansion but operated ponly for a party of up to 3pax in a ADA Van. The vehicle can accommodate only 1 wheelchair guest and up to 2 companions as non-wheelchair users.

Please Note: It is suitable for guests on a wheelchair only. An accessible vehicle with a wheelchair lift or ramp will be used for transportation. Guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs. The number of accessible vehicles is extremely limited and guests are encouraged to make their accessible shore excursion reservations in advance.  Therefore, when making your reservation, please indicate the number of vehicles, not the number of guests.
