Excursion Waterfall, fjord & glacier walk tour at Rosendal

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

This invigorating Hardangerfjord excursion begins gently, with an über-scenic 45-minute spin along the fjord's shoreline toward picturesque Fureberg Waterfall. Miles of dramatic mountain peaks and glistening water please the eye as your guide provides a fascinating soundtrack about the history and way of life here in this remote Norwegian realm.

A brief stop is made for awesome photos of the waterfall (it cascades down the mountainside right next to – and under – the roadway!) before you arrive at tiny Sundal, where you’ll switch to hiker mode for the next couple of hours as you head out on a gravel walkway toward the Bondhus Glacier. The walking pace will be leisurely; and the scenery, majestic. Especially an hour in, when you arrive at the Bondhus Lake viewpoint to encounter spectacular vistas across a turquoise lake with the glacier snaking its way down the mountainside and toward the valley. Your local guide will offer pointers on this unique environment you’ve reached.

Your trek in and back out is about 5km (3.1 mi) in total distance – and worth every bit of the energy it requires. Once back at the coach, settle in for some well-deserved relaxation time as still more wonderful fjordland views await during the ride back to Rosendal pier.
