Roseland Peninsula, Ferry Ride

Depart Falmouth for Philleigh Way Cookery School, set in the rural village of Philleigh, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the gorgeous Roseland peninsula. The journey will include a trip across the stunning Fal River on the King Harry Ferry, established in 1888 and one of only five chain link ferries in England, the ferry connects the Roseland with Truro and saves around 5 million car miles each year.

Philleigh Way Cookery School

Once across, it is a few miles through scenic country lanes to the purpose-built cookery school which is set in a former cowshed and stable complete with high ceilings, wooden beams and plenty of Cornish country charm.    On arrival meet your host and Head Chef, Rupert Cooper. He will demonstrate the process of making pasties and scones before preparing a plate and serving a fabulous menu using all local Cornish ingredients from fish to meet, cheese to vegetables all while explaining the process and showing you the tricks and techniques.

Starting with an introduction of your menu over a welcome drink, Rupert will explain what they do at Philleigh Way and a little more about his journey to Head Chef.   Then with the best seat in the house, you will have the opportunity to learn some of the methods and techniques that have gone into preparing the dishes. Each dish will be accompanied by local Cornish wines, chosen to perfectly complement your menu.

Following this delightful lunch experience, showcasing the best of Cornish ingredients, it will be time to bid farewell to Rupert and the team at Philleigh Way and return to Falmouth.
