Get new perspectives on Niigata, Japan on this excursion that provides a window on the local culture at the Northern Culture Museum, and an opportunity to see the city from a very high perch at Befco Bakauke Observatory.
Departing the pier, drive 40 minutes to the Northern Culture Museum. Constructed in 1889, this museum was originally a home of successful entrepreneur Ito Bunkichi and his family. The museum offers six traditionally preserved architectural buildings surrounded by the beautiful gardens which create this harmonious masterpiece. Each of these buildings are over a hundred years old and is a perfect escape into the historical past of Japan.
Then drive 30 minutes towards the pier and enjoy getting a bird's eye view of the city of Niigata and its scenic mountains at the Befco Bakauke Observatory. This observatory is one of the highest points in the region; enjoy the magnificent panoramic view provided by this point which is 125 meters high.
Make the 15-minute drive back to the pier.
