Excursion Nordic food experience on the island of bornholm tour at Ronne

The island hosts the yearly contest “Sol over Gudhjem” (Sun above Gudhjem), where chefs compete, doing the best dishes.

In that perspective, businesses on Bornholm make prize-winning cheese, meat products, chocolate, ice cream, rapeseed oil, flour, bread, biscuits and much, much more .… and then there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy fish on Bornholm. Not just smoked herring, but also cod, salmon and other specialties.

Travel across the Island to the idyllic and scenic Melstedgaard, located where the hilly and rocky slopes of the island, meet the Baltic Sea. Melstedgaard is an open-air museum showing the history of country life in Bornholm. But it is much more than that. On the lawn next to it, you will find the House of Food culture, representing the gourmet scene of the island. This is where you will be involved, preparing your own lunch as well as introduced to Gourmet Bornholm.

After an introduction, you will together with your host Mikkel Bach-Jensen and team, gather herbs from nature as well as vegetables from the gardens. Combined with other produces from the local farms, you will be involved cooking your own Nordic Lunch, from local ingredients.

During the event, your hos Mikkel, will explain you of the local food traditions and produces as well as introduce you to the idea behind the “Bornholm Gourmet” association, gathering 75 local stakeholders, within the food and gourmet scene of Bornholm.
