With over 6.2 miles (about 10 kilometres) of trails, this nature park offers an ideal setting in which to enjoy this unforgettable sensory and natural experience. Wander over majestic sand dunes and contemplate the beauty of the lower estuary and banks of Rivière aux Outardes as it flows into the immensity of the St. Lawrence River. Due to its unique biodiversity of the nature park, you can immerse yourself in eight different ecosystems, from the boreal forest to the beaches and flats, including bog, sand dunes or alder, and the largest salt marsh on the north shore.
Baie-Comeau Sightseeing, Place La Salle
Following your visit to the Pointe-aux-Outardes Nature Park and refreshments, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 40-minute drive back to Baie-Comeau. Upon arrival, take a short sightseeing tour of Baie-Comeau's heritage area, including a drive by Place La Salle. This quaint commercial artery, home of the Biosphere Square, is filled with sites of historical interest, and bustles with specialty food shops, souvenir stores, art galleries, fine restaurants, and nightclubs. Marvel at the magnificent scenery and Champlain Street, where the former Premier of Canada, Brian Mulroney, spent his childhood. Afterward. you may opt to return directly to the pier, or be dropped off at Place La Salle to explore Baie-Comeau at your leisure, and return to the ship on your own.
Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 200 yards (about 183 metres), at times over uneven, gravel, and natural surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach. Walking at the nature park is at the discretion of each guest. This tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility, but is not wheelchair-accessible. Guests are advised to wear warm, layered clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and a weatherproof coat from the ship. Tour operates in a school bus. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is very limited; we suggest you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
