Excursion Mt wellington hike tour at Hobart
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 30-minute drive to Kunanyi (Mt. Wellington).
Upon arrival, meet your eco-guide and begin your nature hike. Rather than just driving directly to its summit, this tour represents an ideal alternative for nature lovers who wish to experience Hobart's famous mountain in a way that brings to life the natural and cultural history that makes up this island-state. During your approximately 40-minute hike, pass by Tasmanian alpine vegetation on the way to the Sphinx Rock, a sandstone rock platform with great views of the Organ Pipes, Hobart and Derwent River.
After a coffee break, drive up to the summit of Mt. Wellington for one of the best views in Australia. On a clear day, a third of Tasmania is visible. Take in spectacular panoramic views from the summit's four lookouts, then make the final small climb to the trig point.
Following the hiking portion of your tour, re-board your coach and head to your final stop at the oldest brewery in Australia, the Cascade Brewery. Upon arrival, enjoy a cold beer, then re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
