DAY ONE – Sunday, March 29, 2026 – Port Elizabeth/Shamwari Game Reserve
Enjoy breakfast onboard before meeting your local representative who will join you on a picturesque drive through the Eastern Cape countryside, heading towards the famous Shamwari Private Game Reserve (approx. 90 minutes). As you journey, enjoy the shifting landscapes, rolling hills, expansive plains, and occasional sights of wildlife that hint at the exciting adventure that lies ahead.
Upon reaching Shamwari, you will be greeted with a refreshing drink and an opportunity to appreciate the serene environment. A delightful lunch is prepared at the lodge, showcasing local flavors and warm hospitality. Afterward, finalize your check-in and make yourself comfortable in your accommodations.
In the late afternoon, convene at the lodge for tea and light snacks, then embark on your first afternoon game drive. Guided by knowledgeable rangers, delve into the reserve’s varied ecosystems and witness Africa’s legendary wildlife in their natural setting.
Return to the lodge as the sun sets, allowing time to refresh before indulging in a lavish dinner in the sophisticated lodge’s dining area, an exquisite conclusion to your first day in the wilderness.

DAY TWO – Monday, March 30, 2026 – Shamwari Game Reserve
Start your day with an early morning wake-up call, followed by tea, coffee, and biscuits served in the lounge to energize you for the day ahead. Set off on a morning game drive, when the animals are most active and the lighting is ideal for photography. Stay alert for lions, elephants, rhinos, and more as your guide provides intriguing insights into the reserve’s fauna and flora.
Return to the lodge for a leisurely breakfast, then meet your guide for a meaningful visit to the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary. Discover the sanctuary’s initiatives to rescue and rehabilitate big cats from captivity and hear the inspiring stories of the animals who now reside at Shamwari.
Savor a relaxing lunch at the lodge, followed by afternoon tea. Then, prepare for another exhilarating game drive, which offers a fresh perspective on the reserve as the light changes and nocturnal creatures begin to awaken.
Once back at the lodge, freshen up before a special evening experience: a traditional Boma dinner beneath the stars. Delight in local cuisine around a crackling fire, accompanied by storytelling and a presentation from a local conservationist who will share insights into the region’s wildlife protection efforts.

DAY THREE – Tuesday, March 31, 2026 – Shamwari Game Reserve/Richards Bay
Awaken to the sounds of the bush and savor one last cup of tea or coffee accompanied by biscuits before embarking on your final morning game drive, a last opportunity to see any wildlife you might have overlooked.
Return to the lodge for a substantial breakfast, then gather your belongings and finalize check-out procedures. Leave Shamwari by coach and head to Port Elizabeth Airport, where you will board your flight to Richards Bay (flying time approx. 120 minutes). A packed lunch will be provided for your trip.
Arrive at the harbor in the midafternoon to reboard your vessel, carrying with you the unforgettable memories of your experience in the African wilderness.
Please note: This Mid-Voyage Land Adventure is recommended to guests who are physically fit. It is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or those who utilize a wheelchair. The game drive vehicles traversing over uneven terrain, and the ride can be bumpy, making it unsuitable for guests with back problems. This Land Adventure involves touring outdoors and guests may be exposed to warm, humid and/or wet weather and insects; please pack accordingly. We recommend wearing lightweight clothing; bring a windbreaker and warm clothing for the evening and early morning game drives. Since the safari vehicles are open, a sunhat, sun block, insect repellent and sunglasses are recommended. Remember also to bring your camera and binoculars. The contents and activities of this program are subject to change, depending on weather conditions and the movement of wildlife on the reserve. Malaria is present in certain regions of South Africa, and we recommend consulting your physician for appropriate prophylaxis and preventive measures before travel. Airlines restrict baggage to 15kg (33lbs) per person; hand luggage cannot exceed 5kg (11lbs) in weight. Animal sightings are frequent but cannot be guaranteed.
