Excursion Mid-voyage land adventure: lalibela lentaba safari experience tour at Port Elizabeth

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Lalibela is a conservation project that currently consists of 10,500 hectares (approximately 26,000 acres) and is home to the Big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard) as well as other predators like cheetah, hyena, jackal & lynx. Unique to the area of South Africa, Lalibela is blessed with vast areas of Savannah Grassland, the biome that has by far the highest carrying capacity – this means that they are able to sustain truly vast herds of plains game like zebra, impala, wildebeest, red hartebeest, blesbuck and eland. This, in turn, allows them to sustain a remarkable density of free-roaming lions.

Experience unique game drives and an overnight stay at Lalibela Wildlife Reserve and its Kichaka Luxury Game Lodge on this 1 night Mid-Voyage Land Adventure. Kichaka Lodge is a luxurious five-star retreat within the Lalibela Wildlife Reserve, constructed from natural stone and thatch to harmonise with its surroundings. It features a large waterhole frequented by an array of wildlife, including hippos and elephants. The lodge showcases a modern blend of safari and colonial decor, creating a timeless and comfortable atmosphere. Guests can relax at the cocktail bar, dine in spacious indoor and outdoor areas, or enjoy an unforgettable open-air boma dinner beneath the African sky. For quieter moments, the private library offers cosy seating for reading or unwinding.

A South African safari experience is simply not complete without an elegant Boma evening – a local traditional dinner enjoyed under the stars, in candlelight, and prepared on open-flames by our passionate chefs. The original term Boma refers to a space that would be used as a holding area for animals that needed to acclimatise to a new environment. In modern safari lodge terms, a Boma dinner refers to a magical setting around a fire where guests gather to share a hearty traditional meal in good company and with good wine.
