Explore the ancient legacy of Tunisia during this picturesque, half-day sightseeing excursion to Medina and Carthage.

La Goulette, Tunis, Medina, Guided Tour, Free Time

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 45-minute drive to Tunis. Upon arrival, head to the Medina. Built during the 7th century, the Medina is the historical and cultural heart of modern Tunis, and a wonderful place to get a feel for life in the city. Take a guided stroll through the labyrinth of narrow allies packed solidly with shops selling everything from tacky t-shirts and stuffed camels to high quality leather, ceramics, jewellery, and handicrafts. Following your tour, some free time is made available to browse the bustling souks.

Carthage, Carthaginian Sanctuary Tophet, Antonine Baths, Roman Cisterns

Next, re-board your coach and drive to nearby Carthage, one of the great cities of the ancient world and an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, visit the Tophet, the oldest punic worship place in Tunisia and proceed for a guided tour inside the 2nd-century Antonine Baths, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest ancient bath complexes ever built. From here, re-board your coach and transfer to the nearby Roman cisterns, some of the world's best-preserved Roman cisterns and among the most visible features of the archaeological site of Carthage. After a photo stop here, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
