Walk through the farm area as your guide explains the importance of agriculture in Samoan culture and its deep connection to family and community traditions.
Vailele Village Cultural Immersion
Re-board your coach and continue to the nearby Vailele Village, one of Samoa’s oldest settlements, with a history dating back over two thousand years. Nestled in lush surroundings, the village offers an authentic glimpse into Samoan life, complete with a traditional kirikiti (cricket) field and communal gathering spaces.
Here, participate in a series of engaging cultural experiences. Witness a traditional ‘Ava Ceremony, a sacred ritual symbolising welcome and respect. Observe the preparation and cooking of food using an umu, Samoa’s traditional earth oven, and learn about the many uses of the coconut during an interactive demonstration. Guests may also take part in a weaving workshop, creating simple items from coconut leaves, and view local handicrafts such as siapo (tapa cloth) making and sarong hand-printing.
The experience is complemented by live traditional dance and music performances, showcasing Samoa’s storytelling through movement and rhythm. At the conclusion of the visit, enjoy refreshment with freshly served coconut water before re-boarding the coach for the return drive to the pier.
