Excursion The smaller creatures of the rainforest tour at Cairns

Guests will experience a leisurely stroll in the Cairns Botanic Gardens for the opportunity to witness several bug-hubs that hides the most elusive beauties! See and photograph a huge variety of weird and wonderful insects, a myriad of spiders, fungi and a host of many other tiny creatures that are hidden in the undergrowth. Too often people focus on the larger creatures and plants and miss out on these magnificent creatures, some only found in this tropical region of Cairns. Joining expert macro photographers and tour guides Bridgette or Ros for a personalized, highly specified tour of the gardens and the treasures waiting to be discovered. The nature and photography tour will introduce guests to Australia’s largest butterfly and caterpillar, the Cairns Birdwing, also seeing many other colourful insects and spiders including Australia’s first spider, the Northern Jewelled Orbweaver and a recently discovered Lacebug nicknamed ‘The Midgey Bridgey’. If guests bring your own camera, hosts can help with camera settings and composition ideas, techniques, and suggestions for capturing amazing images of the critters encountered.
