Excursion Scenic cruise & unesco sites tour at Sibenik
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Experience the medieval charm and UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Šibenik during this scenic, half-day sightseeing excursion via boat and on-foot.
Šibenik, Old Town, Archipelagos, Bays, Coves, Sandy Beaches, St. James Cathedral
Depart the pier for the short, guided walk to the Šibenik waterfront. Nestled on Croatia’s Adriatic coast between Split and Zadar, the still-sleepy Old Town of Šibenik is huddled along a glorious coastline of island archipelagos, bays, coves, and sandy beaches. As with so many Croatian towns, it is surrounded by imposing stone fortresses built in the Middle Ages for military protection; the most eye-catching of these is the Fortress of St. Nicholas. Built by the Venetians in the 16th century, the fortress overlooks the sea and is topped by battlements. The star attraction among the steep, meandering alleyways and piazzas of the historic Old Town is the St. James Cathedral, an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Following your cruise, disembark the boat and begin your guided stroll through the cobbled kalas (narrow streets) of the Old Town, founded by Croats more than a thousand years ago. Along the way, marvel at its well-preserved historical core, monuments, and ancient fortresses. In addition, pass by City Hall, the commercial and crafts centre, and numerous churches and cathedrals, including the Baroque Orthodox Church and renowned, Gothic-Renaissance-style St. Jacob’s Cathedral, one of the finest sacral monuments in Dalmatia.
