Excursion Sand bay beach, traditional lunch & waterfalls tour at Roseau
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Embrace the splendid natural beauty and flavours of Dominica during this immersive, full-day beach and waterfall excursion with a traditional lunch prepared on open fire on the beach.
Roseau, Hibiscus Eco-Village, Carib Indian Welcome Performance
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive towards the north-eastern part of the island to the Hibiscus Eco-Village. En route, travel through mountain roads and marvel at your spectacular surrounds. Upon arrival at the Hibiscus Eco-Village, enjoy a traditional welcome dance by the Carib Indians; Dominica is the only place in the world that has a Carib Indian community.
Bay Beach, Swimming, Dominican Lunch
Leaving the Hibiscus Eco-Village, re-board your coach and head to Sand Bay. To get to Sand bay you will have to make a short but rather strenuous descend to get to the beach. Nestled between two cliffs, the beach gives the perfect feeling of a 'hideaway' beach. The beach is a mixture between white sand and black, volcanic sand from when the island originated. Upon arrival at the beach, proceed for swimming and a traditional Dominican 'cook up on the beach' lunch prepared over an open fire; an integral part of Dominican culture.
Twin Falls, Short Hike, Twin Cascading Waterfalls, Swimming
Re-board your coach for the picturesque drive to the spectacular Twin Falls. Leaving the parking area, a short, guided hike brings you to Twin Falls. Situated in the middle of the rainforest, idyllic Twin Falls features stunning waterfalls cascading side-by-side out of the deep gorges they have carved out. Upon arrival at the first waterfall, you can stand on the wooden landing and marvel at the falls and surrounding rainforest panorama, and/or take a dip in the pool below the waterfall.
More adventurous guests can clamber over the rocks and a steep hill for a dip in the small pool at the base of the white sulphur waterfalls. The sensation of bathing in these beautiful waterfalls, and feeling the mystique of the surrounding rainforest, is not to be missed. At the conclusion of your visit, walk back to your coach and commence the approximately 45-minute drive back to the pier.
