Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 1.5-hour drive to Pembroke Castle. En route, head south, through the rolling farmland along the beautiful and historic southern coast of Pembrokeshire via the Valley of the Western Cleddau and the town of Haverfordwest. Upon arrival at the charming walled town of Pembroke, a visit is made to Pembroke Castle, which dominates the town. The castle is the birthplace of Henry Tudor, father of the infamous Henry VIII, and grandfather of Elizabeth I.

During your guided walking tour, explore this mighty fortress' long and fascinating history, which dates back to 1093. Walk through the endless passages, tunnels and stairways of this largely intact castle, and learn about the medieval lifestyle in the Exhibition Room, which also including a number of exciting tableaux. Another highlight of the day is the visit to the Keep, which, with its outstanding features and architecture, offers breath-taking views from its top.

Next, re-board your coach and continue south along the coastline to the historic town of Tenby. With its own ruined castle and town walls dating to Norman times, Tenby was an important stronghold, but is now more famous for its three beautiful beaches and safe, clean bathing water. After an orientation talk and lunch on your own at a local restaurant, some free time is made available here to explore the narrow shopping streets that wind down the hill to the seafront.
North Pembrokeshire, Narberth Town, Rural Scenery, Presili Hills
Leaving Tenby, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 1.5-hour drive back to the pier. En route, head back through the contrasting North Pembrokeshire, and drive past the lively and attractive market town of Narberth. This town, known as the 'Little England Beyond Wales', is located on the historical Landsker Line that once divided the Welsh-speaking and English-speaking areas of West Wales. Finally, continue your drive back to the ship through stunning rural scenery, with the pretty Presili Hills in the distance.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for approximately 0.6 miles (about one kilometre), at times over uneven, cobblestone, gravel, and natural surfaces and inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and access the castle's towers.
