Orotava Valley

Depart the pier for the scenic drive across the island and towards the Orotava Valley. This immense, fertile valley at the foot of Mount Teide extends all the way to the sea. A photo stop is made at the Humboldt Viewpoint to take in the spectacular panorama. Over 200 years ago, the naturalist Alexander von Humboldt described the vista as the loveliest prospect of his travels. From here, proceed with the drive to Puerto de la Cruz, site of the historic Orchid Gardens.

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden was built and inaugurated at the end of the 18th century, by order of King Carlos III. Today, its surface is greater than 20.000 m², 20.000 m² of pure beauty. Its official name is the Acclimatisation Gardens of La Orotava, since what is today known as Puerto de la Cruz used to belong to the region of La Orotava. The gardens have an important collection of autochthonous plants, such as large collections of tropical and subtropical plants that adapt perfectly to the island's climate and you won't find anywhere in this part of the world. The Garden's pathways zigzag through a cocktail of colours and gorgeous smells, under the shade of trees and palm trees and under the shelter of a clean air atmosphere.

Puerto de la Cruz

Your final stop is at the fashionable resort of Puerto de la Cruz, where some time is made available to browse its many shops and cafés lining the flower-decked sea promenade. Following your visit, commence the return drive back to the pier.
