Harbour Walk
Your tour begins with a guided walk along Kirkwall’s picturesque Harbour front, a hub of activity for centuries.
Learn about the importance of Orkney’s food traditions, ingredients, food history and provenance as you stroll into the heart of the town where you will find local food shops selling Orkney produce.
The Grinal and Oatcakes
Return to the harbour front at The Grinal, a 17th century building where you get the chance to make and take with you a batch of traditional Orkney oatcakes.
Lunch and Tasting
Followed by a light lunch of local products prepared by local food expert, Lorraine Johnston. Tasting includes smoked fish, cooked meat, cheeses & chutneys, Bannocks (a kind of bread cooked on a griddle) and fudge. A dram of local whisky or gin will also be offered to compliment the food.

Please note: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking for a total of one hour, much of it at the discretion of the visitor,with a total of 1 mile at times over uneven surfaces. There are 11 stone steps with handrail up to the entrence at the Girnel and a few steps to negotiate to get on and off the coach. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear warm, comfort able clothing in layers with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, a warm layer, and a weatherproof jacket or coat. Guests must be at least 18 years old to participate to this tour.
