Excursion Mandurah giants & dolphin cruise tour at Perth
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Some 75 scenic minutes south of Fremantle by coach, cradling a gorgeous natural estuary along Western Australia’s Indian Ocean coast, Mandurah is renowned for its cultural heritage, quirky larger-than-life art installations, and the pods of playful wild dolphins that frequent its endless network of waterways. This day excursion offers you a chance to experience these and more.
The city’s early name – “Mandjoogoordap” – means ‘meeting place of the heart’ in the Noongar language, and Mandurah’s rich blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage fits that bill perfectly. You’ll start your time along the Coodanup Foreshore Reserve, communing with the whimsical Yaburgurt Cirkelstone, one of the Giants of Mandurah – colossal wooden sculptures created from recycled materials by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. A different sort of magical experience follows, as you depart on an exclusive 75-minute dolphin cruise through the city’s spectacular waterways, home to the largest wild dolphin population in Western Australia. With luck, you’ll spot some of these playful creatures as you explore their natural habitat, gaining insightful commentary about their ecology from the crew.
Back on dry land, delight in a classic lobster and chips lunch at Cicerello’s waterfront restaurant – a beloved local institution for over 100 years. Afterwards, take some free time to explore the lively foreshore and shopping district at your leisure before rejoining your coach for the 90-minute return drive to Fremantle by way of Little Lui, one of the other Mandurah Giants, this one tucked along the coastline north of town.
