Excursion E-bike scenic nuku hiva tour at Nuku Hiva

This adventurous outing combines your own pedaling power, the electronic assistance of a modern E-bike, the knowledge of a local guide, and the extraordinarily scenic landscape of one of the planet’s most remote natural utopias to create a memorable two-wheeled experience.

Your rolling Nuku Hiva exploration begins with a short transfer to the E-Marquises shop in Taioha’e village, where you’ll be fitted and geared up for safe, comfortable cycling before heading out with your leader along main, paved roads. Depending on the group’s size, experience, and conditions of the day, the ride length may vary. The minimum planned roundtrip runs approximately 9.5 mi/15 km; an extended route expands to 19 mi/30 km, with a portion conducted over dirt road for added variety and a bit of thrill. Both highly scenic itineraries involve gentle climbs of some 2000-2500 ft / 600-800 m. These gradual planned ascents ensure an enjoyable ride for all guests.

A short refreshment break will be taken at a designated midway point to enjoy a tasting of seasonal local fruits, always a reinvigorating treat. Energized and ready for more stunning scenery, climb back in the saddle for the return ride to Taioha’e village.

Please note: This adventurous excursion involves strenuous physical activity over an extended time, although the E-bike’s power assist helps reduce effort, especially during climbing segments. Extensive biking uphill is required.  The tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or who are pregnant, have neck or back problems, or are prone to motion sickness or vertigo. Wear cycling-appropriate clothing and durable closed-toe sports shoes. Bring your preferred sun protection, at least 2 liters of water from the ship, and a light windbreaker. Upon evaluation of group capabilities and local conditions, length of planned route (regular vs extended) will be determined at ride start.  Weight restriction on the e-bike is 200 lbs. Age restriction is 70 years old to participate on this tour. Nuku Hiva is a remote island. Please note guides' English is very basic. Itinerary and stops are subject to weather conditions and fitness level of the group. We recommend wearing lightweight clothing. Participation of this tour is extremely limited.
