Experience the flavours of the first demarcated wine region in the world during this panoramic, full-day excursion to the Douro Valley with lunch.

Leixões, Amarante Village, Guided Stroll, Old Roman Bridge, Churches and Rustic Merchant Shops

Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately one-hour drive to charming village of Amarante, hometown to many artists and writers. Upon arrival, take a guided walking tour of the village, cross the old Roman Bridge, and soak up the ambiance of old churches and rustic merchant shops.  

Douro Valley, Vineyards, River

Next, re-board your coach and continue on to the Douro Valley, a land of vineyards displayed along terraces of schist framing the river named after its golden-coloured waters, and home to the first demarcated wine region in the world.

Quinta da Pacheca, Visit, Wine Tasting & Lunch

Upon arrival at the Douro Valley, proceed to Quinta da Pacheca, an emblematic winery of the region. Visit the winery and garner a unique insight into the art of making these sweet and powerful wines.

You will have a guided tour of the winery and traditional cellars, followed by lunch with a tasting of their wines at the same time Pacheca Reserve White (Branco), Pacheca Reserve Red (Tinto) and a Pacheca Port Wine in pairing with dessert. You will be served a set menu selected by the chef and consisting of starter, main course and dessert.

After lunch, re-board your coach and commence the approximately 2-hour drive back to the pier.

Please note: This tour involves an extensive amount of walking for approximately 1.24 miles -1.86 miles (about 2-3 km), at times over uneven, cobblestone and natural surfaces, inclines, with a few steps to negotiate to get on/off the coach and approximately 60 at the sites visited. This tour is not suitable for guests prone to motion sickness, guests with limited mobility and guests who utilise a wheelchair. Guests are advised to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, and bring sun protection and a sweater or jacket from the ship. Guests must be at least two years old to participate on this tour. The tour sequence may vary. Space on this tour is extremely limited; we suggest you book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
