Excursion Crystal caves and tuckers town drive tour at King's Wharf

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Embrace the scenic splendour of Bermuda from above-and-below sea level during this panoramic sightseeing excursion.

Hamilton, Botanical Garden, Crystal Caves

Depart the pier for a scenic, approximately 30-minute sightseeing drive past the exquisite Botanical Garden en route to the Crystal Caves, an amazing natural grotto featuring stalactites and stalagmites, and floodlit for your viewing pleasure. The Crystal Caves are so named due to the crystal-clear water that flows through the cave and forms a lake. Its azure-blue water is so clear that you can actually see the cave's floor, which is approximately 55 feet (about 17 metres) below the surface. This intriguing and fascinating attraction was actually discovered by accident, when two local boys who were searching for a lost ball stumbled across the cave in 1907.

Guided Cave Tour, Wooden Pontoon, Stalactites and Stalagmites, Skylight

After descending 81 steps to the floor of the cave, proceed on-foot along a wooden pontoon that has been constructed over the waters of the lake. Be sure to have your guide point out the original entrance from which the boys lowered themselves into the cave, which appears as a small skylight in the cave's roof.

Tucker's Town, 'Billionaire's Row', Beautiful Estates and Mansions, John Smith Beach

Next, re-board your coach and for a panoramic drive through the exclusive residential area of Tucker's Town. Real estate in this area begins at around $10 million dollars, and culminates in 'Billionaire's Row'. Here, you can see the homes of some of the world's wealthiest people, including the waterfront estates of the late Ross Perot and former New York City Mayor and media mogul Michael Bloomberg. Get an up-close look at the pristine estates, with their well-manicured lawns and rambling mansions, in this gated community that is home to the rich and famous. Following your visit, re-board your coach for the approximately 30-minute drive back to the pier, with a brief photo stop at John Smith Beach en route.
