Excursion Adachi museum & yushien garden tour at Sakaiminato

Begin your journey with a scenic drive to the renowned Adachi Museum of Art, located near Matsue and celebrated for its seamless fusion of fine art and landscape design. The museum’s vast grounds feature meticulously curated Japanese gardens that have been ranked Japan’s best garden for multiple consecutive years. Designed to be viewed like living paintings, the gardens are framed by the museum’s large picture windows, creating stunning compositions that change with every season. Inside, explore an exceptional collection of modern Japanese art, including more than 1,300 works from the Meiji period onward. The museum is especially famous for its pieces by Yokoyama Taikan, a master known for blending Japanese and Western styles into serene, atmospheric works.

Continue to Yushien Garden, located on Daikon Island. This expansive 40,000-square-meter garden is known for its elegant ponds, waterfalls, stone pathways, and seasonal beauty. Established in 1975, Yushien is especially admired for its extensive collection of Japanese peonies, with over 250 varieties that bloom in vibrant colors throughout the year thanks to specialized cultivation techniques. Please note: This experience includes approximately 1.4 miles (2.2 km) of walking in total for full participation, with about 40 steps at the Adachi Museum. The terrain is mostly flat and almost entirely paved. Comfortable clothing and sneakers are recommended.
