Excursion A day with locals in an organic farm tour at Puerto Del Rosario

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Agricultural and farming traditions are of special importance in Fuerteventura. Enjoy a day in which you will have you the opportunity to learn about rural life in Fuerteventura, by visiting a local ecological farm. Dedicated to the cultivation of Aloe vera, olive oil as well as other local vegetables and fruits, all under the organic certification of the CRAE. Located in what is known as the heart of Fuerteventura's biosphere reserve, this farm is surrounded by the protected natural landscapes of "Malpaís grande" and "Cuchillos de Vigán", all ZEPA zones (special protection zone for birds).

Local Bio Farm

The Bio Farm was born in the 1960's in the heart of Fuerteventura when Antonio Mesa and Pilar Cabrera decided to buy the land to plant tomatoes. Previously, the land was used for the planting of cereals and legumes, as was the case on much of the island. They then decided to plant 400 olive trees. Following that, Aloe Vera was planted and an additional 200 more olives trees were added.

There is no better way to enjoy the laidback spirit of this island than enjoying a relaxing day walking around the aloe vera, olive and fruits crops cultivated on the farm.

Aloe Vera Workshop and Lunch

Taste the farm Olive Oil, enjoy creating your own aloe vera products with an interactive workshop, visit an old almazara, used to extract the olive oil in the old times.

Savour a delicious lunch in the garden made of the local products that you have seen during the day.
