Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Discover the cultural and architectural treasures of Malta’s capital during this scenic, half-day walking tour of Valletta.

Valletta Drive and Upper Barracca Gardens

Depart the pier for the short, approximately 15-minute drive to Valletta. Upon arrival, begin your walking tour with a visit to the Upper Barracca Gardens, a peaceful terrace offering breathtaking views of the Grand Harbour and the historic “Three Cities.” Originally designed in the 17th century, the gardens provide one of the most iconic panoramas in Malta.

St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church

Next, continue on foot to St. Paul’s Shipwreck Church, one of Valletta’s oldest and most important religious sites. Dedicated to the Apostle Paul, considered the spiritual father of the Maltese, the church houses treasured relics, including part of the column on which he was martyred and a revered bone of his right wrist. Your guide highlights the church’s artworks, architecture, and its historical significance to Malta.

Sacra Infermeria

Next, visit Sacra Infermeria, one of Europe’s leading hospitals until the 18th century. Known as the Grand Hospital during the French occupation and later as the Station Hospital under the British, it is today used for banquets, exhibitions, and theatrical events. Guests will learn about its historical importance and architectural grandeur.

Following your visit, enjoy some free time and have the opportunity to stroll down the main promenade of the city. Re-join your transport and conclude your tour with a brief drive back to the pier.
