Excursion Salalah on your own exploration tour at Salalah

Experience the town of Salalah at your leisure during this 2 hour, self-guided excursion to the capital of Dhofar Province which is located in the southern region of the Sultanate of Oman. The Dhofar region has been known for centuries for the production of frankincense. Together with a traditional burner, made of plain clay or decorated in attractive colours, it makes for a nice souvenir.

Al Husn Souq

Guests will be dropped off at the Al Husn Souq to stroll on their own among the vendors. The colourful stalls are heaped with mounds of frankincense, myrhh, incense, bottles of fragrant perfume oils and a large variety of fascinating artefacts.

On arrival your guide will advise of the central meet point for the return drive to the pier to re-join the ship.

Please Note: This tour requires a minimal amount of activity and walking is at the discretion of the guest. Please dress conservatively when going ashore. Beach wear is not considered appropriate attire. Women should not wear anything revealing, including miniskirts, shorts, sleeveless or low-cut tops. Men should always wear a shirt in public. Please do not photograph people without their permission, especially women, who will be greatly offended. You may not take pictures of government buildings, embassies or anything military in nature, including airports. Most shops and souqs are closed between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The local currency is the Omani rial. Many businesses and venues are closed on Fridays.
