Excursion Qaqortoq town exploration tour at Qaqortoq

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Cradled between rolling steep hills dotted with brightly colored houses, Qaqortoq is the largest town in South Greenland and best seen on foot. Visit the Gertrud Rasch’s church, fish market and local museum, learn about Viking history and stroll around looking for the Stone & Man art displayed around town. There are more than thirty Stone & Man carvings and sculptures around the city, all created by local artist, many of them carved right out of the surrounding rock face. Learn why Qaqortoq is the only city in Greenland with the country’s oldest fountain in the center square.

Note

Please note: A moderate amount of walking to fully-explore the city, however walking in Qaqortoq is at the discretion of each guest. Local infrastructure is basic, and local road conditions are unpredictable, note that roads in Qaqortoq are only partly paved, with some inclines and steps.  Guides, equipment, and services are the best-available but may not be up to the standards of those found on other excursions therefore, we urge flexibility and understanding as we visit unique and somewhat remote destinations. Lightweight, comfortable clothing with flat, closed-toe walking shoes, sun protection and a sweater or light jacket is recommended.
