Excursion Expedition activities with silversea expedition team tour at Kangerlussuaq
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Make a memorable stop in Kangaamiut (or Sukkertoppen in Danish), one of Greenland's most scenic villages. Kangaamiut is a small community numbering around 350 inhabitants. Its brightly-colored wooden houses lie scattered over two hills behind the landing site and are picture-postcard perfect!
Arrive with a welcome by locals and a drum dance, as well as the chance to stroll and take in village life. See the flensing of a seal (as possible based upon the timing of the hunt), and enjoy the earnest strains of the local church choir.
Spend some time just like a local at the Community Hall at a Kaffemik, a communal celebration. Enter the charming and small Museum to learn more about Kangaamiut's history.
Return to the ship.
Note
Please note: There is minimal walking, though it is on a dirt road that may be uneven, so guests with limited mobility should take note and bring a travel companion if possible. Casual clothes and comfortable shoes are recommended.
