Excursion Expedition activities with silversea expedition team tour at South Georgia

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

South Georgia, an island with high mountains and glaciers going all the way down to the ocean, has the largest concentration of king penguin colonies worldwide. It is nesting ground for various albatross species, amongst other seabirds. Also elephant seals and fur seals are common at the beaches of the island. At various beaches are still some remains from the whaling time. At the former whaling station Grytviken - which will be visited during our time at South Georgia - is in our days a small museum, the grave of Sir Ernest Shackleton and a small post office
