Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
The Cerro Blanco Protected Forest (BPCB) is one of the largest and best preserved reserves of tropical dry forests in Ecuador. It is located in the western part of the country, in the coastal region, southeast of the Chongón-Colonche mountain range, in the province of Guayas, with an area of ??approximately 6,078 hectares. The forest is managed by the Pro-Bosque Foundation. Most of the protected forest is intended for the conservation of biological diversity, however there are areas where ecotourism and reforestation activities are carried out.
Depart from the pier for the approximately one hour drive to Cerro Blanco Reserve. Once there, your guide will show you the facilities of the reserve before starting the walk to the hiking trails.
At least 216 bird species have been recorded in Cerro Blanco, some of which are globally threatened, such as the Guayaquil parrot, the grey-backed hawk and the saffron finch, and 24 are endemic to the Tumbes ecoregion.
After the nature walk, enjoy refreshments of local snacks and drinks, before driving back to the pier.
