Excursion Aappilattoq hike, village walk and church choir performance tour at Aappilattoq

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Explore one of South Greenland's most dramatic natural features: Prince Christian Sund, the sound that connects the Labrador and Irminger Seas. On either side of the Silver Cloud, waterfalls stream down sharp, wrinkled mountainsides as the ship navigates the fjord through a sea of icebergs that glitter in the sun. Born of compacted ancient snows that calve into the sound at the glacier's edge, each iceberg is different from the next.

Weather conditions permitting, set out via Zodiac to explore even more. Visit the small settlement of Aappilattoq, where you can walk through the village (population 132) and hike for excellent views of the sound and the mountains. Take a scenic hike (3km round trip) and enjoy looking out from 130 meters of elevation. Please note this hike is very strenuous and slippery and is only recommended for able-bodied guests, with lots of scaling rocks to reach the viewpoint.

Another hike (much shorter, easier done for everyone) starts at the football field and just follow the path to a gentle hill. From there you have nice views over the village.

Take a leisurely walk through the village to the church. Enjoy a choir performance before returning to the ship.
