The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers 2286 square kilometres (892 square miles) and encompasses the volcanic area around the Ngorongoro Crater - including the still active volcano of Oldonyo Lengai and the famous Olduvai Gorge. Its centrepiece, the Ngorongoro Crater, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and the first sight of it is breathtaking. The floor of the crater is only 100 square miles but is home to around 30,000 animals. Spend 2 nights at The Manor at Ngorongoro, an elegant country farm home fused with an East African safari experience.

DAY 1 - MOMBASA / NAIROBI

As you disembark in Mombasa this morning, you are met by the local Silversea representative, and along with other guests are transferred to the airport for the flight to Nairobi.


On arrival at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport, the local Silversea representative is on hand to greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. Along the way, stop for lunch at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. A brief, panoramic city tour will help you orient yourself before your arrival at the hotel. Check-in at the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Dinner this evening is under your own arrangement.

DAY 2: NAIROBI / NGORONGORO

After breakfast, check out and store the excess baggage that cannot accompany you with the hotel. The local representative is on hand to assist with your transfer to Wilson Airport and check in for your flight to Manyara (via Kilimanjaro). As you change planes in Kilimanjaro, you are provided with a packed picnic lunch and assisted toward your onward flight to Manyara. Please note that you will not likely see Mount Kilimanjaro from the airport, however you may see it during landing or takeoff.


On arrival at Manyara airstrip, you are met and transferred through the renowned Ngorongoro Crater area en route to the charming Manor at Ngorongoro.


The Manor at Ngorongoro is reminiscent of an elegant, up country farm home in the Cape Dutch style of architecture. With its 20 luxurious guest cottage suites, guests enjoy a luxury safari experience fusing East African safari hospitality with old world Afro-European architecture, and decor. Each suite has a private courtyard and deck, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, en suite bathrooms with traditional bath tubs and showers.

DAY 3: NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast, depart for a full day in the crater, with picnic lunch provided.

Its centrepiece, the Ngorongoro Crater, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and the first sight of it is breathtaking. The floor of the crater is only 100 square miles but is home to around 30,000 animals, with a high concentration of predators.

After spending most of the day in the crater, proceed to a visit of a local Maasai Village. Thereafter return to the Manor and take some time to relax before meeting the rest of the guests for sundowners, followed by dinner.

DAY 4: NGORONGORO / NAIROBI

Following an early breakfast, check out and transfer to Manyara airstrip for your return flights to Nairobi. You will once again fly via the airport at Kilimanjaro. A Silversea representative is on hand to assist and provide packed picnic lunches.


Upon arrival at Nairobi airport, you are met again by the local representative and directed to your waiting vehicles. Check in once again at the Norfolk Hotel. The balance of the day is at your leisure. Dinner this evening is on your own arrangements.

DAY 5: DEPART NAIROBI

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Check-out time at the hotel is 10:00am. If your flight today is late in the evening, you may wish to guarantee late check-out for an additional cost. Please contact Silversea at least 30 days in advance to make these arrangements.


The local Silversea representative will coordinate your transfer to the airport at the time most appropriate for your flight.

Day 4 - Manyara / Kilimanjaro - approximately 1 hour 15 minutes with stop in Arusha

Day 4 - Kilimanjaro / Nairobi (Wilson) Airport - approximately 50 minutes

Luggage Information:

On all safari flights (i.e. Nairobi / Serengeti / Nairobi), luggage should be packed in a soft-sided bag, and should not exceed 15kg (33 lbs). Additional pieces can be stored at the hotel in Nairobi during your time in the bush. For the flight from Nairobi to Mombasa on Day 5, economy-class passengers are allowed two pieces of 23kg (50Ibs) each whose total dimensions shall not exceed 158cms (62 inches) (L+W+H) for each bag. Any charges by the airline for additional/overweight luggage are the responsibility of the guest.

This service is subject to change and may result in a longer wait at your arrival airports. It is the responsibility of the guest to obtain all other appropriate visas before your cruise.


Accessibility:

This tour requires a good amount of walking, some strenuous, and therefore is not recommended to guests in wheelchairs. Please note that game drive vehicles traverse over uneven terrain and that the game drives can be 'bumpy'. Guests who have back and/or mobility issues are encouraged to remain at the Lodge during game drives.


Vaccinations:

Consult your physician for information regarding vaccinations or medications which may be appropriate for your state of health. Yellow fever inoculations are required when entering Kenya from an infected area. Please check with your personal physician. Guests should also consider beginning anti-malarial precautions prior to the start of this program.


Minimum Participation:

All Land Programs require a minimum number of participants in order to operate as described. If this minimum number is not obtained, Silversea reserves the right to offer the program at a different rate based on private arrangements, or to cancel a specific departure.
