Experience the uniquely beautiful and historic treasures of Busan, and tea-time with a monk, during this immersive, full-day sightseeing excursion with lunch.
Busan, Beomeosa Temple, Iljumun Pagoda, Royal Palace Wings, Pavilions, Tea-Time with a Monk
Depart the pier for the scenic, approximately 50-minute drive to the Beomeosa Temple. Located at the edge of Mt. Geumjeongsan, Beomeosa Temple was constructed by the monk, Ui Sang, in 678 A.D. Renovated in 1713, the temple is one of the most delicate and luxurious architectures of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Features include Iljumun, the 9th-century, three-storey pagoda with four pillars, seven royal palace wings, pavilions, three gates, and eleven hermitages. Designated a National Monument, Beomeosa is surrounded by beautiful wisteria woods and valleys. Following your temple tour, don’t miss an exclusive opportunity for Silversea guests to meet and meditate with a monk, and talk over a cup of tea.
Haeundae Beach, Dongbaek Island, Nurimaru, APEC House, Gwangan Bridge, Lighthouse, Jeongja
Next, re-board your coach and drive along Haeundae Beach to the APEC House, built to host the 2005 APEC Summit meeting at the tip of Dongbaek Island, which stands near Haeundae Beach. This glassy, eye-catching building has been one of Busan’s iconic landmarks since then. Because of its priceless location in Nurimaru, APEC House offers spectacular panoramic views and amazing photo opportunities. Upon arrival, enjoy breath-taking vistas of the entire length of the Gwangan Bridge that stretches over Gwangalli Beach from Nurimaru. The picturesque lighthouse over a jeongja (traditional Korean pavilion), is a unique photo spot as well. Time-permitting, an evening view over Nurimaru is especially beautiful.
Lunch, Jagalchi Fish Market, Fresh Seafood & Shellfish, Gukje Market, Free Time, Shopping
After lunch at a local restaurant, transfer to the harbour-side Jagalchi Fish Market, which stretches into the downtown area and offers fresh seafood, including a large shellfish section in the middle of the market. The mountains of fresh seafood on ice, sea air, and resonant voices of the market folk combine to create an unforgettable experience. Your final stop is at the Gukje Market. Busan's largest and most central market area, its alleyways are divided into six market districts offering a wide array of goods, including silk, linen, clothing, bags, glasses, and curtains. After a short tour, some free time is made available for shopping at your leisure. Following your visit, re-board your coach and commence the short drive back to the pier.
