After a short drive you reach Vegueta, the oldest quarter of Las Palmas, declared a UNESCO world Heritag site in 1990. Get into the history and travel back in the time of the Conquerors, the Portuguese, the Dutchman and the Pirates during your walking tour.
Stay at the place where the city was founded at the end of the XV century, originating from a Castilian Military encampment. Only a few meters away you will find the Plaza Santa Ana with its entrance guarded by bronze statues of dogs symbolizing the legendary canines found on this island. This square is surrounded by the Casa Regental, a largely 17th century building serving as residence of the president of Gran Canary's High Court of Law, the elegand 19th century Town Hall, the Bishop's Palace and the imposing Cathedral Santa Ana.
