Excursion Country side by bike & tra que organic village tour at Da Nang
Cruise line: SilverseaDifficulty:
Tra Que is a charming little village close to Hoi An. The village is named after the sweet-scented vegetables they grow, and that are used to flavor famous Hoi An dishes, like the local noodle dishes Cao Lau and My Quang, or Hoi An Pancakes (Banh Xeo).
After a drive from the port to Hoi An, hop on a bicycle and explore the countryside surrounding Hoi An before arriving at Tra Que Village. At the village, and the home of your host, Mr. Tuan, a welcome drink of freshly picked fruits is waiting.
Take a walk around the village and learn about the history and customs of this charming village. Stroll through the organic gardens where local farmers work their fields using the traditional methods hundreds of years old.
Return to the home of Mr. Tuan, where the real fun begins as everyone is given farming instruments, and instructions for joining the farmers in preparing the land for sowing. Help fertilize the garden using seaweed from the local river, and then water it using large tin cans that get strapped on your back! Learn about how to harvest vegetables and herbs, wrapping them to prevent damage. Many of the local herbs are used by the farmers for traditional village medicines, which will be used in an herbal foot massage your host will provide.
After all the work, enjoy a cooking demonstration with your host family. Try your hands at making the village specialty named "Tam Huu" spring rolls or Xeo Cake using the local herbs and vegetables you have just picked. A delicious lunch will be the fruits of your labor.
